01 — What this can look like

Not a diagnosis

Most people recognise three or four of these.

Trauma does not always look like remembering. More often it looks like a nervous system that never fully stood down.

You are alert in rooms that are perfectly safe.
Certain sounds or smells take the day off you.
You feel far away from people you love.
Sleep is the part of the day you dread most.
You avoid things without ever deciding to.
You are told you seem fine and you know you are not.

There is no deadline on this.

03 — How we work with it

The only place methods are named

Three ways in, and you choose how far each one goes.

Nothing here requires you to relive anything. Steadying comes before processing, always.

Stabilisation First

When the present is not steady yet

Before anything else we build reliable ways to bring you back to the room. Some people stay here for a while, and that is a legitimate place to finish.

Trauma-Focused CBT

When memory is the thing that intrudes

We work with what happened at a pace you set, so that it stops ambushing you and becomes something you remember instead.

EMDR

When talking about it is not the way in

A structured approach that needs very little of the detail said out loud. It suits people who have told the story before and found it did not help.

04 — How I work

Four principles

You set the pace, and nothing happens before you are ready.

Nothing is decided in advance, and you can stop after any point. With trauma the pace matters more than the plan.

01
The free call

Fifteen minutes, and you say only as much as you want to. No detail is needed for me to tell you whether I can help.

Phone or video

02
Session one

We talk about how you are now rather than what happened. You will not be asked for the story.

50 minutes

03
Weeks two to six

We build steadiness first — sleep, grounding, getting through the week. Processing starts only if and when you want it to.

Usually weekly

04
Reviewing it

We check in often rather than only at the end, because here the pace is the work.

Openly, not by default

05 — Questions about anxiety

Before the first call

Things people ask me about anxiety

If yours isn’t here, just ask me on the call.

1

Will I have to talk about what happened?

2

What if it was a long time ago?

3

What if it does not count as real trauma?

4

What if I get overwhelmed in the session?
